The UNLV Hockey team captain Hunter Muzzillo returns to City National Arena for the 2023-24 season with the Skatin’ Rebels.
The 6-foot defenseman appeared in 24 games this past season, tallying two goals and five assists. Throughout his four years, he has racked up a total of 95 games with 50 points.
Muzzillo led the team to Nationals as the No. 4 ranked team for the second consecutive season. Unfortunately, the Rebels fell in the second game to Liberty University ending the year just shy of a national title.
He has only seen the post-season twice, due to the pandemic cutting his first two years at UNLV short. Pushing through adversity, Muzzillo looks at his third attempt with pride and poise.
“There’s unfinished business,” Muzzillo said. “I want nothing more than to win a national championship for this school and this program- for everyone involved. It’s really what gets me up every day. I just want to win, and we haven’t won the big one yet… I’ve got one more year of eligibility to try and get that done.”
The fire within Muzzillo for the national championship, not only for himself but for the city of Las Vegas burns brighter than ever entering his final season with the Rebels.
The UNLV hockey program grows every season, bringing in more top recruits with Muzzillo at the helm to lead the group on and off the ice.
“My only individual goal is to be a good leader, teammate, and a good friend to those who need me,” Muzzillo said. “Individually on the stat sheet, I don’t need that… I just want to win the big dance.”
Stay tuned to watch Hunter Muzzillo lead the Rebels into the new season as UNLV’s hunt for a national title continues.
