To close out the regular season of 2022-23, UNLV hosts the Grand Canyon Lopes at City National Arena for its final home series.
The Rebels enter the weekend as the No. 2 team in the ACHA, repping a 22-3-1 record. UNLV split the series last weekend against ASU, losing in overtime (5-4) the first night and a 5-0 shutout victory the second night.
GCU enters ranked in the 21st spot in the league with a 13-10-2 record.
The Lopes last faced off against the Rebels last Thursday in a continuation of the suspended game from December. The first period of the game began with 12:19 on the clock and a 1-0 lead on the scoreboard for UNLV.
Despite the Lopes tying up the game, the Rebels ripped off five more shots for their 6-1 triumph. Since the loss, GCU has not played in any other games awaiting its trip to Las Vegas.
On offense, UNLV averages 5.2 goals per game out of its 26 ACHA games (136 total), whereas GCU averages 3.76 goals per game (94 total).
Continuing to tune into their strong defense, the Rebels limit their opponents to an average of 1.92 goals per game (50). However, GCU averages 4 goals allowed per game, tallying up a total of 100 goals against in their 25 games.
Rebels vs Lopes
City National Arena will see the Skatin’ Rebels face off against the Lopes Feb. 24-25 with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop both nights.
Prior to puck drop on Saturday night, all three skatin’ seniors will be honored on the ice in a small ceremony with their families. The night will also be featured with UNLV Greek Life for the second collaboration of the season.
The Lopes will be battling to end their season on a high note, while the Rebels will continue to fight for their ranking heading into the National Tournament in March.
