In the team’s first ever games at the D1 level, the Skatin’ Rebels got the win in both games against Arizona State en route to a weekend sweep and a 2-0-0 record to start the season.

On Friday night, UNLV picked up the win by a score of 3-1. Joe Kaszupski scored the first goal of the season to snag the lead in the first period. Jake Saxe extended it to a two goal lead midway through the second period, followed by ASU cutting the lead in half shortly after. Kaszupski retaliated with his second of the game. The third period was scoreless for both sides.

Saturday night, Matthew Painchaud got the ball rolling for the Skatin’ Rebels with a goal just a minute into the game and Kaszupski followed that up by notching a goal in the second period. ASU scored twice in the third period to tie the game at two apiece. Kaszupski continued on the scoring tear by scoring the game winner with five minutes to go, capturing the 3-2 win.
