The Skatin’ Rebels have added defenseman Jonas Gordon to the roster for the upcoming season. Gordon, a native of Canmore, Alberta, comes to UNLV after finishing last season with the West Kelowna Warriors of the British Columbia Hockey League. This past season he also spent time with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters, as well as the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He played in 43 regular season games total with those three teams, tallying a goal and five assists. In four playoff games with the Warriors, Gordon had one assist.
Right away, Gordon felt like UNLV was the right fit.
“The program is growing and it will be a great place to not only develop as a player, but also get a great education,” he said. “I’m very excited to meet the team and get to know all of the players and coaching staff.”
Gordon plans to major in business at UNLV, with a focus on either finance or accounting. He finds the idea of the Skatin’ Rebels eventually making the jump to NCAA D1 is exciting and, and thinks it shows how great of a program UNLV has. However, he wants to focus on their current goal at hand – winning a championship this upcoming season.
I’m really looking forward to doing everything I can to help the team win, as well as achieve my academic goals,” he said.
