The Skatin’ Rebels have added forward Jonah Pearson to the roster for the upcoming season. Pearson, a native of Nanaimo, BC, comes to UNLV from the Casper Coyotes of the Western States Hockey League. Last season, he accumulated 37 points (16 goals, 21 assists) in 46 games. In the three seasons prior, he split time with the Oceanside Generals and Nanaimo Buccaneers of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League and the El Paso Rhinos of the WSHL. He is a centerman who can also play on the wing.

“ I consider myself a two-way forward,” he said. “I try to play a mistake free, 200 foot game with offensive upside.”

Pearson will be studying criminal justice while playing for the Skatin’ Rebels, and decided on UNLV because of the level of hockey and quality of education.

“I am extremely excited to experience all the benefits UNLV Hockey has to offer,” he said. “Not very often does a college team have the opportunity to have a NHL-quality facility at their disposal.”

That facility is the Golden Knights’ practice facility, where UNLV Hockey will play the majority of their home games beginning this upcoming season.

“I’m looking forward to playing and competing with a new group of teammates this upcoming season,” Pearson said.  ”I feel privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of a program with such high aspirations and goals.”
