Forward D’Andre John has committed to play for the Skatin’ Rebels for the upcoming season.

John comes from the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the Central Canada Hockey League, where he notched 11 points in 42 games (4G, 7A). In the past three seasons, he also spent time with Cumberland Grads and Brockville Braves.

“My style of play is made up of speed, grit, skill, tenacity, play making and smart decisions with and without the puck,” he said.

When John visited Las Vegas to check out the campus and hockey facilities, he felt very welcomed by all individuals involved with the program and could tell they all shared a mutual vision – to win a national championship.

“It was a pretty easy decision when it came to picking where I wanted to play,” John said. “After my visit to UNLV, my decision was made right away. I’m very happy I made that decision because I’m playing my favorite sport, in one of my favorite cities, as well as taking the courses I’d like with a bunch of great people.”

John is an undeclared major, but is interested in taking business and film courses at UNLV. He is excited to not only join the UNLV community, but also the team to play at the Division I level for the first time in program history.

“I’m looking forward to playing my first season for UNLV and making a name for myself,” he said. “I’m super excited because whoever is on this team will make history and be the start of a legacy.”
